Deck saloon yachts are currently all the rage. But does such a superstructure also make sense for a small cruiser? A Polish shipyard has tried it out

Numerous compact cruising boats have been coming from the neighbouring country to the east for some time now. What all models have in common is a consistent focus on high living comfort and easy handling of the rig and sails. This is also the case with the Sunhorse 25.

With this boat, the designers have gone one step further. Despite the yacht being only 7.40 metres long and 2.55 metres wide, the designers have created maximum living space below deck. This is made possible by the deck saloon concept.

The new Sunhorse is characterised by a rather bulky-looking superstructure. The surprising thing about this is that it is not at the expense of the sailing characteristics. The boat cuts quite a good figure on the water in a wide range of conditions.

It goes without saying that the amount of space in the cabin is enormous. Especially as the interior layout of the Sunhorse is only designed for two people. This has advantages and disadvantages, depending on whether couples are travelling alone or guests are also coming on board.

If you want, you can even transform the small yacht into a thoroughbred motorised sailer. An inside steering position is available as an option.

What else there is to say about the boat can be read in the new issue of YACHT (issue 8/06, available in magazine shops from Wednesday).
